IPL Hair Removal

The days of shaving, waxing, tweezing, and electrolysis may be over due to Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology provides long-lasting hair removal on any area of the body. IPL photo epilation uses high-energy pulses of light to remove unwanted hair from any part of the body without damaging nearby skin.

What Happens During An IPL Hair Removal Treatment?

First, a cold gel is applied to the skin where the unwanted hair is located. Then the IPL wand is moved back and forth across the selected area. Hair beneath the skin surface absorbs the laser’s light and heats up. This loosens the follicles and they eventually fall out. Hair loss is immediate and is usually permanent. In cases where hair grows back, it is usually lighter.

The treatment session with the IPL or laser can last from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the size of the area treated.

How Do Lasers Remove Unwanted Hair?

The lasers and IPL machines use a low energy laser and light machine to gently remove unwanted hair. Laser and IPL treatments are usually effective on almost any area of the body.

IPL and Laser Hair Removal is a gentle process involving several steps. First, it is usually required that a few day’s hair growth is visible to determine the areas for treatment. The areas are than cleansed and shaved and the areas are then scanned with the IPL or laser. The light energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles and the hair shaft. This usually disables the hair follicle, causing it to fall off.

The hair follicle has to be treated at the right phase of the growth cycle. Because your hair grows in cycles, several treatments or different treatment cycles might be necessary to achieve the desired, long-term result. Most areas require at least four to six treatment sessions.
